PHOTOS: Ruto shows off his footballing prowess after ‘Hustler Cup’ Finals

Two days before Christmas, on Monday, December 23, 2019, Deputy President (DP) William Ruto lit the internet after the ‘Hustler Cup’ Final held in Vihiga County.

This followed events after the Deputy President was given an opportunity to score from the spot.

The Deputy President before taking the penalty embarked on a series of warm-up exercises that elicited cheers from the crowd that was watching from a distance.

According to a video which shows recordings of the events, the DP is seen doing ten press-ups before doing several legs stretches in preparation for the penalty.

Ruto then gets instructions from the referee on how to take the penalty after which he takes a few strides back.

The referee then gives instructions to the goalkeeper and signals the DP to take the kick.

Ruto then fires a shot past the goalkeeper who takes time before diving into the right direction.

The Deputy President was joined by former Harambee Stars midfielder turned politician McDonald Mariga in the event which was aimed toward promoting local talent.

"Sport is an important activity in the community as it entertains, brings people from diverse regions and backgrounds together and is also a viable source of livelihood for some of our youth”

“We need more facilities and coaching at the grassroots to convert talented youth into professionals by giving them the desired exposure, technical knack, and tricks needed to rise to the next level” stated the Deputy President.
