Taylor Swift has revealed she is playing a much shorter tour next year than originally planned so that she can stay close to her mum's side.

Both her parents have survived cancer, and she recently spoke out about her mother Andrea's cancer returning.

The Grammy Award winner added that she is struggling to commit to plans in 2020 because of her mother's health.

So instead of her usual six-month stadium tour, she will be putting on a month-long "festival" tour for her latest album along with other artists.

Speaking to Billboard, Taylor said: "This is a year where I have to be there for my family.

"There’s a lot of question marks throughout the next year, so I wanted to make sure that I could go home."

Her new album Lover has a song called Soon You'll Get Better, thought to be about her mother's battle.

It contains the heartbreaking lyrics: 'What am I supposed to do? If there’s no you.’

“This won’t go back to normal If it ever was

It’s been years of hoping

And I keep saying it because I have to

Ooh, you’ll get better.”

Taylor opened up about Andrea's health in a piece for Elle Magazine called 30 Things I Learned Before 30 List.

She wrote: “It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else.

“My mom’s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs.

"I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.”
