Babu Owino forced to apologise after his ‘bedroom’ remarks went viral

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino was forced to apologise after the remarks he made during a public function caught a lot of attention among his social media followers.

The legislator, while giving a speech during the event, said that Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu supported ODM candidate Imran Okoth because Raila Odinga’s bedroom (Kibra) was hot.

“Today at thanksgiving rally at Kibra Constituency. Mama Ngilu and Ann Waiguru came to our bedroom because Baba is a performer and they wanted to enjoy and have fun in our bedroom, that’s why bedroom ilikuwa moto,” said Babu Owino.

Most of his social media followers said that his comments were inappropriate despite the point he was trying to put across.

Babu Owino was later forced to apologise to those who interpreted his speech differently citing that his remarks were metaphorical.

“My attention has been drawn to the different opinions on my speech in our victory rally in Kibra yesterday. I wish to take this opportunity to correct any misunderstanding amongst the public on the meaning I wished to convey. My words were metaphorical in nature hence should not be misconstrued,” said the MP.

The MP also pointed out that Governors Waiguru and Ngilu are remarkable and that he was looking forward to working with the both of them.

“H. E Charity Ngilu and H. E Ann Waiguru are political Trail Blazers for women and serve as important points of reference for the potential of women leaders in Kenyan society.”

“I look forward to a fruitful and meaningful political journey ahead working hand in hand with these two respectable ladies,” added Babu Owino.
