Murkomen compares Mariga’s Betin ‘side hustle’ to Jose Mourinho

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Thursday compared McDonald Mariga’s ‘Karibu Betin’ advertisement to a Paddy Power ad done by renowned Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

Through his Twitter handle, Murkomen hit at out at those who have constantly mocked Mariga’s hustle especially since he expressed interest in vying for the Kibra parliamentary seat.

“Wale mnasumbua Mariga na side hustle ya Betin what would you say about the Special One?” he wrote.

(Those who have been mocking Mariga over his Betin side hustle…what would you say about the Special One).

Mariga prominently featured in a Betin ad that ran for the better part of last year and many attacked him for promoting betting among the youth.

In the latest ad by Paddy Power (an Irish bookmaker that conducts business through a chain of licensed betting shops in Ireland and the United Kingdom), Mourinho or the Special One as he is popularly referred to, features heavily.

The commercial starts with Jose reading a newspaper with the back-page headline "What's next for the Special One?"

He then declares: "It's not easy being special... let me explain."

Walking through a trophy room, he talks about his achievements over the years but points out that not all achievements are rewarded with trophies.

Murkomen was bashed for comparing Mariga to Mourinho since the latter is not seeking any seat in parliament and has a tremendous track record that only few can match.
