Deputy President William Ruto left the crowd chanting for more when he did nine push-ups at the Kericho Green Stadium before a ceremonial penalty kick against Governor Paul Chepkwony.

After the push-ups, the DP sent the goalkeeper the wrong way before making a victory lap amid cheers from the crowd.

The Deputy President was in Kericho to attend the Kenyan Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games.

Ruto said the national government will complete the construction of sports stadiums in the next one and also establish sports academies in all the 47 counties.

"The Ministry of Sports will in the next one year complete the construction of all the sports stadia the government committed to finalising. Beyond that we are going to have sports academies in every county in the country," said Ruto.

The DP was responding to Ainamoi MP Slyvanus Maritim earlier request that the national government construct sports academies in the counties.

"We are asking the counties to work with the national government so that we can invest and make sure that we give the best possible opportunity for our young people.”

While congratulating Laikipia county for winning the inter-counties tug-of-war, he attributed the win to the mursik diet which the team was put on.

"When the Laikipia team arrived in Kericho on Monday, they requested mursik. I arranged for the team to be supplied with the energy-giving milk and today they have emerged victorious," said the Ainamoi MP.

Governor Chepkwony argued that the tug-of-war should be christened tug-of-peace, saying the word ‘war’ was negative.

Kipkelion East MP Joseph Limo encouraged the participants to take with them to their counties, Prof Chepkwony herbal concoctions.

The former Moi University chemistry professor has tens of herbal medicine patents to his name.

"In Kericho County, our governor is also an expert in herbal medicine. His concoctions make one very strong even (sexually). Don't forget to take some of it with you," said Limo.
