Four suspects linked to the death of a female university student will remain in police custody for 14 days, a Murang'a court has ruled.

Making the ruling yesterday, Resident Magistrate Sheila Nyaga also ordered that the body of Maureen Wanjiku Mwihaki be preserved at Murang’a District Mortuary until the matter is heard and determined.

The suspects, Brenda Wanjiru, Maureen Wambui, Allan Muchangi and Joseph Waweru will be detained at Murang’a Police Station.

“The application by Murang’a North police investigator Pius Kasuni has been allowed and a postmortem report will be shared among the lawyers,” ruled Ms Nyaga.

Mr Kasuni in his application said that the four were the last people who were in contact with the deceased.

The suspects are alleged to have murdered Wanjiku on August 11 at St Mary's village.

Wanjiru and Wambui were arrested at Kirogo on Wednesday during a training for the upcoming census.
