Manchester United fans have called for Ed Woodward to be sacked hours before the transfer window deadline.

United supporters feel Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not been backed enough by the United hierarchy to help boost his squad before 2019/20 season kicks off on Friday.

Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman, has been for a long time regarded by fans as the man truly behind United’s failures, and supporters took to Twitter on Thursday to call for his immediate dismissal.

United have been previously been linked with Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala but it seems the plans have hit a dead end.

Man United striker Romelu Lukaku received a rapturous welcome after arriving in Milan, Italy ahead of his move away from Old Trafford.

Lukaku had been linked with a United exit throughout the off-season as he attracted interest from perennial Serie A winners Juventus and Inter Milan.

Juventus failed with an offer for Lukaku, which would have seen Paulo Dybala move in the opposite direction until the deal collapsed over the Argentine's £350,000-a-week (Sh44 million) wage demands.

Federico Pastorello, Lukaku’s agent, confirmed his imminent switch to Inter on social media on Thursday.

The 26-year-old landed in Italy (Milan's Malpensa Airport) on Thursday morning and he was greeted by rapturous Inter supporters.

According to Omnisport, Inter will pay €80million (Sh9 billion) to make the Belgium striker their record signing.

Lukaku, who banks £195,000-a-week (Sh25 million) at United scored 42 goals in all competitions since joining the Red Devils from Everton in 2017.
