Bob Collymore's widow last request to guests at memorial service

Wambui Kamiru, widow of deceased Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, requested all those who planned to attend her late husband’s memorial service to put on bright colours.

This is because she wanted them to celebrate Collymore’s life and not mourn.

“All guests at the ceremony are requested to wear bright and colourful clothes,” she said.

The service was held at the All Saints Cathedral and was attended by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was also in attendance, as was Safaricom interim CEO Michael Joseph.

Friends described the deceased as a mentor and a visionary leader who was not afraid to implement his ideas.

Earlier, Kamiru thanked Kenyans for supporting her during this period and counted herself lucky to have been married to such a special man.

“I am overwhelmed by all the love and beautiful messages I have been receiving from you all here.

"It is a true testament to the character of the special man I was lucky to love. I can't respond to all your messages but know that I have read and received your warmth. Thank you,” she said.
