Sistema.Bio secures 1.2 billion shillings to scale biogas adoption in Kenya

A social enterprise firm and one of the leading biogas companies in Africa has hatched a plan to empower over 100, 000 farmers in the country by introducing them to biodigister technology in the next three years.

Sistema.Bio has envisaged the empowerment biogas production plan to help farmers embrace green energy as part of blueprints to achieving vision 2030.

Company’s CEO Alex Eaton has stated that efforts are in coherence with Government’s set Big Four Agenda, which highlights Agriculture and Manufacturing as key pillars to economic growth.

While speaking about their objectives, Mr Eaton said: “Sistema.Bio is assembling the bioidigester technology locally, creating employment opportunities for hundreds of Kenyans, while educating farmers on the use of organic fertilizers in their farms, directly supporting the SDGs and the Big Four Agenda.”

The plan precedes another project known as the Serie A Investment in which the company pumped in Sh1.2 billion Here,Sistema.bio worked alongside other international investments companies such as ENGIE RDE, EU Electrifi Fund, AlphaMundi, Triodos-Hivos Fund, Dila Capital and EcoEnterprises.

Recently, Sistema Bio was among the four firms which were listed for the 2019 Ashden Awards, for playing key role in shaping continent’s quest for sustainable energy.

Others include KopaGas from in Tanzania, We Care Solar which works all over Africa, and Baobab+ in Senegal, Mali, Madagascar and Cote d’Ivoire.
