VIDEO: artist behind “Pigwa shoka” song finally apologizes

The artists, Sheddy Empire, of the song christened pigwa shoka have come out to apologize for the damages caused following the release of the song.

In a video recording capturing the three artists, and shared on YouTube by oh News, the musicians said they never intended to cause harm to the family and friends of slain Moi University student Ivy Wangeci.

According to the artists, song was produced out of creativity.

“We are here to apologize to the family of Ivy because of our song “pigwa shoka”…we never meant to hurt anyone, either his family or friends; we don’t support anyone to be killed. We also have sisters and mothers and we wouldn’t wish them to be killed…we know everyone is affected by the song, both his family and classmates at Moi University, we are very sorry for that” said one of the artist.

The song, upon its release, came under czar criticism on social media, who disapproved the production with the majority saying it was applauding femicide.

On Sunday, through his tweeter account, Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua confirmed that had he had received numerous complaints about the song and said that he had informed the Directorate of Criminal investigations to arrest the artists and producers of the song to face legal action.

At the time the song was released, it was barely a month since alleged lover, Naftali Kinuthia, axed Ivy Wangeci, a sixth-year medical student at Moi University then, to death.
