US President Donald Trump on Monday ordered Ugandan authorities to find the kidnappers of American tourist Kimberly Endicott and guide Jean-Paul Mirenge who were kidnapped last week.

The two were hauled from their safari vehicle as they drove through the Queen Elizabeth National Park on April 2, 2019, but were rescued over the weekend.

Trump has, however, stated that tourists will only feel safe to visit Uganda once the kidnappers are nabbed.

“Uganda must find the kidnappers of the American Tourist and guide before people will feel safe in going there.

“Bring them to justice openly and quickly!” stated Trump through a tweet.

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, on his part, vowed to deal with such criminals and assured all visitors that his country is safe.

“We shall deal with these isolated pockets of criminals. However, I want to reassure the country and our tourists that Uganda is safe and we shall continue to improve the security in our parks.

“Come and enjoy the Pearl of Africa,” he said.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of $500,000 for the release of the pair.

According to sources, a ransom was paid but the exact amount has not been made public yet.
