A Nairobi bishop who runs a children’s home has been charged with defilement.
Moses Otunga Anungo was further accused of committing the indecent act with minor on diverse dates in November 2018 at his house within children’s home in Ruaraka area. The minor is said to have been living at Kada Tumaini Child Rescue Center run by accused since 2017.
Accused known as Bishop allegedly takes advantage of his wife’s absence according to police. The court heard that Otunga would pick the minor from her room while the rest were asleep to his own bedroom where he would undress her and defile her.
The minor who has since been transferred to a different rescue centre alleged that the accused on several occasions would offer her food before preying on her the whole night an act that caused her trauma. Reportedly, the accused became so harsh on her whenever she gets close to female aids fearing that she might expose him. A month later, the accused’s wife visited the centre and the minor disclosed to her what she has been going through.
Otunga denied the charges. The court has ordered for a probation report before giving him bond following an objection by the prosecution that could interfere with witnesses.
