Governor loses millions to con men

Was a Nyanza Governor conned of over Sh100 million by ‘street smart’ brokers purporting to be police officers?

The Grapevine has been informed that the second term county chief had been tricked to give the cash to the ‘cops’ who had links to a senior judicial officer.

The money was meant to be a ‘bribe’ to the judicial officer to help the county boss in a matter that was pending before the courts.

Months later, the governor learnt that he was conned as the individuals are neither police officers nor do they have any links to the said member of the bench.

The big man has now hired investigators, claiming to be cops too, and paid a down payment of Sh6 million to pursue the swindlers since he can’t complain to police formally. Luckily, the matter was ruled in the governor’s favour.
