Student, 16 arrested for stabbing man who made passes at her

A 16-year-old student has been arrested in Homa Bay for allegedly killing a farm hand who made sexual advances at her.

The Form Three student in Ndhiwa Sub County is said to have killed Denis Manyuro, 21 on Saturday night.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney on Monday confirmed that the girl was in police custody and investigations into what happened commenced.

“We have arrested the suspect and recovered the knife she allegedly used in killing the man," said the Police boss.

The victim had been employed by the girl's family.

Police and eyewitnesses said the student was outraged after the man allegedly made several romantic advances at her despite her protests that she was still too young for a sexual relationship.

"They fought at her grandmother's homestead. Manyuro collapsed after being stabbed on the chest and died a few minutes later," said an eye witness.

Manyuro who hailed from Kakamega County has been living with the girl’s family and is said to have defied the minor’s warning to keep away from her.

The incident occurred just a day after the girl returned home from school for her mid-term break.
