Family mourns death of Kenyan woman killed under mysterious circumstances in Toronto

The family of 30-year-old Lorraine Kerubo Ogoti is set to bring back the remains of their daughter to Kenya on Thursday 24 January according to CTV news.

Lorraine was pronounced dead by the police on January 8 2019 after her body was found in her apartment inside a Scarborough apartment in Toronto, Canada.

It is alleged that Lorraine was stabbed by a 40-year-old man, Mawlid Hassan whose body was also found dead outside the apartment. The parents suspect that the man was Lorraine’s boyfriend.

According to the police, the man had sustained serious injuries and died of a blunt force trauma.

Lorraine’s father, George Ogoti, says their daughter had never informed them of her relationship with Hassan citing that maybe it was too soon.

Anne Ogoti, mother to Lorraine, says she does not understand why someone who came into their lives just recently would take their daughter’s life.

“It’s very hard to imagine that someone can just come and snap life out of your own child. Someone we do not know, someone who just came into our life, maybe a few months ago. Indeed, we are very angry,” said Lorraine’s mother.

The family, which describes Lorraine as a humble and outgoing person, says she left Kenya for Canada three years ago to seek employment opportunities.

A funeral service is expected to be held on Friday 25 January at Laisser Hill SDA church in Ongata Rongai.

Lorraine has left behind a four-year-old son whom she had intended to take to Canada.
