VIDEO: Kenyans make fun of Uhuru’s ‘washenzi’ remark

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday hit out at critics of his government noting that he will ensure every part of Kenya equally benefits in terms of development.

Speaking during the launch of the refurbishment of Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa, the Head of State called those threatening him ‘washenzi’ (uncivilized), maintaining that he will not be shaken.

"Nitaendelea kuzunguka kila corner ya Kenya na kazi ya maendeleo...kutoka Mombasa hadi Kisumu, Moyale hadi Namanga ..hii siasa ya kusema ya kwamba mtu ametoka mahala fulani ati maendeleo itaelekezwa mahala fulani jamani tuwahe (I will continue to traverse every corner of Kenya, bringing growth and development; from Kisumu, Moyale, up until Namanga. This politics of saying someone comes from such and such a place so development should be made in that region should stop)," he said.

He added: “We want a country where every single citizen is entitled to development regardless of where the leader comes from. That is the kind of politics we want in this country.

“Kwa hivyo hao washenzi waachane na mimi… (Those uncivilized leaders should leave me alone)”, he said.

Kenyans took to social media to make fun of those remarks and one hilarious video has been doing rounds.

In the video by Jaymoh Ule Msee, he highlights how Kenyans often vote along tribal lines and makes fun of how leaders influence their followers.
