A 16-year-old boy has been remanded at Kakamega Juvenile Remand Home for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death after a quarrel over a dirty plate.
The Standard Seven pupil is accused of stabbing his 18-year-old brother on the neck, causing his instant death on the night of November 17 at their Luanda home in Vihiga County.
According to court documents, the boy is said to have cooked ugali and sukuma wiki and served the family while the brother was away.
When he returned home, he found his portion of the supper inside the cupboard but the food was served on a dirty plate.
The Form Two student then picked a quarrel with his younger brother for serving him food on a dirty plate.
The suspect is said to have rushed to the kitchen and picked up a knife, which he used to stab the victim on the mid-claw region just below the neck, leading to massive loss of blood. In his statement, he told the investigators that his elder brother had hit him on the back.
“I took the knife to scare him when he started beating me after the scuffle. I hadn’t wanted to stab him but unfortunately I found that I had already stabbed him without such an intention,” he told the police.
