Youngster sets tongues wagging after Government pays him Sh66 million

The anti-graft agency is zeroing in on a youngster who owns a construction company after a State agency paid him a total of Sh66,282,671 in two tranches for work he did not do or even tendered for.

A source told The Grapevine that the contractor in his early 30s claims he does not know about the payment and that he was shocked when he went to get a clearance certificate from a Government agency and was informed that he has to pay 6 per cent of the contract sum to the revenue authority before he gets the certificate.

Our moles revealed that the money was paid in the months of September and October this year in two tranches of Sh52 million and 13 million.

One of the payments was done on Moi Day, that was celebrated recently.

It is claimed that his company repaired roads in Nairobi’s central business district but the owner of the company did not bid for the contract or does not have an award certificate or certificate completion.
