Police shoot dead six men who raped Nairobi woman in turns

Six men believed to have attacked and raped a woman were Sunday shot dead in Dandora, Nairobi.

They had reportedly attacked and raped a female pillion who was on a boda boda in Luckysummer area in a macabre attack.

Police said the gang composed of young men had attacked a boda boda rider who had a female pillion and later raped the woman in turns.

They then escaped towards Dandora with the stolen motorbike and another one they had.

Nairobi police boss Joseph Ole Tito said the stolen motorcycle had a tracking device and after the owner had informed the police of the incident they tracked the said gang up to Kifarage area where they were mowed down by police bullets.

Tito said the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was admitted.

“The suspects have been identified by some of the victims that they had earlier on attacked and robbed. They are all young men,” said Tito.

He added boda boda riders are giving security agencies a challenge because of the manner they are involved in crime.

“They hit and run fast. This is an area we need to check and address,” said Tito.

The killing of the six increased to seven, the number of suspects killed at the weekend alone in the city in the war on crime.

On Friday another suspect was felled in Mathare slums after he and others had shot and injured a police officer in a botched robbery.

The officer was shot in the stomach as he confronted a gang that had attacked and robbed a supermarket in the slum.

Two other suspects managed to escape on a motorcycle.

A pistol with two bullets was recovered from the man.
