Raila will be the fifth President of Kenya - Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has come out boldly to say Raila Odinga will be president come 2022.

This comes days after he backed the former Prime minister’s call for a referendum saying the Opposition leader is right in his quest for constitutional change.

The political commentator said the time was right for Kenya to initiate a referendum saying the 2010 Constitution was half-baked.

Ngunyi said President Uhuru will team up with Raila Odinga in an alliance that will see Odinga become Kenya’s fifth president.

Speaking on his YouTube show, The fifth estate, Ngunyi said the new-found unity between Uhuru and Raila with a common agenda had effectively sidelined Ruto.

Mutahi also praises Raila’s political awareness in smelling change calling him the grand master.

“Regarding politics of change, Raila is the grand master. No one can smell change as freshly as Raila does. And that is why we cannot argue with the referendum. If Raila says it will happen, it will happen.” Said Mutahi.

According to the video by the fifth estate team, the referendum would lead to the creation of two posts: An Executive Prime minister who will head the government and a ceremonial President who will be the head of state.

The political analyst said he supports the referendum as it will create a position for Raila to develop the nation.

“Creating a position for Raila so that he can build our nation is therefore perfect for me. If Uhuru and Raila are supporting the referendum, no one can stop it.” Ngunyi said.

On Thursday, Raila maintained that Kenya will go to a referendum if it has to realise the goals of the Building Bridges initiative.

He said calls to change the constitution and the structure of government are tied to the peace initiative which followed the March 9 handshake.

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday publicly declared that he supports constitutional reforms through a referendum to help improve Kenyans’ lives but not to burden them more.

He, however, dismissed claims that it was part of the handshake deal signed between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga in March.

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi on Saturday, Ruto said Jubilee is ready for constitutional changes but noted that those who have been talking about it should sit and agree on what they want.
