This morning, my wife challenged me

 "Baby, it will be a tragedy if we become the couple that starts something and not finish it. Let us not start things and leave them pending..." she said to me.

She told me this because despite all the wonderful things we have managed to do together, there are two projects that have dragged on for so long.

Those words made me smile. They reminded me of one of the many reasons why I love her, she is my eyes when I can't see, she keeps me in check, she is my life partner and purpose partner. Those words remind me of what many couples are doing.

Many couples are starting things and leaving them half way. In fact, for many couples, the last time they really put up effort towards a goal together was when they were organizing their wedding. The reason why many like to look back at their wedding photos and videos is because that moment reminds them of how the two came together, planned, organized and prayed over a goal and achieved it together as a couple.

So, as my wife has challenged me, I want to challenge you two as a couple.

That house that you started building, don't stall. Build it to completion.

That business you started as a couple, don't let it fall. Run it with excellence till it employs and feeds households.

That Masters or PhD you started but you took a break because of pregnancy, child birth or lack of money. Go back and complete it as you support each other.

That commitment you gave to help a less fortunate person or an organization that helps others. Don't back track on your commitment, honor your pledge.

That loan you took to advance your family matters, don't default. Pay it back till the time when you as a couple will be debt free.

Those driving lessons you started because you are thinking of buying a car for the convenience of your family, go through them, get your license and tick that off your to-do list.

That gym you two enrolled in, those morning jogs you said you will be doing, those healthy foods you said you will start eating as a family but you stopped; go back to that lifestyle and stick to it.

That book you had started writing but stopped mid-way because life happened and you got discouraged, pick that book up and finish it. The world needs to pick your mind.

That business plan you wrote then shelved because your spouse did not believe in it, dust it off from the shelve and believe and support each other afresh.

That dream you used to have but buried it, speak life back to it and execute it. Don't rob this generation what you were meant to give.

Those children you brought into this world, don't abandon them. Give them your time, mentorship and love till they grow to become fine adults and even as adults, be there for them.

That marriage you started, don't break it or stop watering it. Lead it together till death do you part.

That faith you placed in God, don't back slide. Keep the faith, run the race.

He who started a good work in you two will be faithful to complete it.

Be the couple who start something and follow it through till the end. Be the finishing couple who finish strong whatever they start. Two are better than one for they have a good return for their labor.
