Uhuru put on the spot after meeting Portugal's President

President Uhuru Kenyatta met Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on Tuesday during the 73rd United Nations General Assembly but netizens had a few tough words for him.

As the country struggles with huge debts that have led to an increase in taxes, Kenyans pleaded with the Head of State not to borrow more money before the current debts are settled.

Hawk-eyed netizens also lauded Kenya’s delegation for carrying notebooks this time round as opposed to the President’s previous visit to the US where they were bashed for not taking notes.

Here are some of the reactions:

David? @aganyodav: But don't borrow any money please.... Wacha tulipe China kwanza

CHARONYI NI WASI: Ask him bei ya mafuta taa ni ngapi nchi yake???

Ivan Mwangi: Avoid the term LOAN plz mr president

lil uzy?: Please usiombe loan...just say hi then goodbye

mad fish? @vajo41: Na usikope tafadhali hatutaki deni ingine.

Charles Otieno: I am sure you will be going there soon.

On Monday DP William Ruto maintained that revenue generated from the 8% VAT on all petroleum products will be put to good use to develop the country.

He also warned matatu owners against hiking fares unreasonably as they will be dealt with accordingly.

Businessmen have also been urged not to take advantage of the situation to increase prices of products.
