The mother of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno broke down on Monday 24th September in court during Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s hearing.

Ms Auma was at Milimani High Court to attend Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s plea hearing at the Milimani Law Courts.

Appearing before judge Jessie Lessit, Governor Obado pleaded not guilty to the charge of killing the Rongo University student.

Judge Lessit, however, directed that the governor be detained at the Industrial Area Remand Prison until Tuesday afternoon when his bail application will be heard.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Detectives had earlier on Monday arrested a bodyguard of Migori Governor Okoth Obado for allegedly using documents belonging to someone else to secure employment as a police officer.

John Chacha whose real name is Mwita Moses Mogaya, is an Administration Police officer working in Migori County, he was arrested at a hotel near the Milimani Law Courts.

The EACC say Mogaya used academic certificates belonging to another public officer identified as John Chacha Nyamohanga to secure employment two years ago.

“EACC received a complaint, conducted investigations and established that the subject used certificates belonging to one John Chacha Nyamohanga to get entry to the Administration Police Service in 2006,” said EACC in a statement.

He is set to be charged at the Milimani Law Courts with impersonation contrary to Section 384 of the Penal Code.
