Wafula Chebukati in Baringo South to supervise by-election

Baringo, Kenya: Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is overseeing the Baringo South by-election.

Electoral Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and Commissioner Professor Abdi Guliye said everything is in order and as a commission assured people of Baringo South and the Country as a whole of credible elections.

"We travelled all the way from Nairobi to oversee the ongoing by-election. The commission has arranged for everything and polling will go on well," said Chebukati.

Chebukati assured the electorate that the process will be free, fair and credible.

Technical hitches experienced earlier in various polling stations as the voting process begun has been rectified.

The chairperson confirmed that there will be no live transmission of results and presiding officers in all 132 polling stations will be required to avail the results at the tallying station.

"Presiding officers will be required to travel and bring results to the tallying station," he said.

He defended the process saying it will not puncture the voting process" we shall have credible results," he said.

Guliye noting the slow start said the number of voters is expected to rise with time.?
