Why MPs want blind experts to massage them in the gym

Members of Parliament now want Government to hire blind masseurs to massage them.

In a report adopted by the MPs on Wednesday 15 August, the lawmakers complained of issues affecting their day-to-day operations.

Among the legislators present, Nominated Jubilee Party MP David Sankok called on Parliament to hire masseurs to massage them in the gym. He stated they are better in their craft.

 “We are asking Parliament to go to the Machakos School for the Blind and hire some of those people because they can do a better job,” said Mr Sankok.


In addition to, the MP pointed out that the dining floor needs renovation citing that it is very slippery.

“Our dining floor is very slippery especially for some of us who walk on clutches. Some of the members might even lose their teeth,” said Sankok.

“In order to improve catering services, it is necessary for Parliamentary Services Commission to consider urgently facilitating the renovation of the members’ restaurant including floor sanding, repainting and repairs of chairs and procurement of new table clothes,” he added.

The legislator is nominated by the ruling party to represent people with disabilities.

In the report, the MPs further recommended proper sanitation facilities incuding repairing door locks and taps.

“…and that the malfunctioning door locks and non-operational taps at the wash-hand basin should be required with utmost urgency,” reads part of the report.
