Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so they say.

But when it comes to lifting and using someone else’s content as your own, that is a different story altogether.

This is the quagmire Kenyan rapper Octopizzo is at the moment after hawkeyed fans called him out for allegedly claiming to own a Maserati that turned out to be that of American rapper Lil Wop.

The drama started after the Namba Nane rapper posted a photo on his Instagram account of a man standing next to a Maserati. “SGR LOCOMOTIVES. AnotherOne Loading,’’ wrote Octopizzo.

The man’s face was not visible but judging by the physique of the individual in the photo, he could have easily passed to be Octopizzo.

So, when the fans dug deeper, they discovered that Octopizzo had allegedly airbrushed the number plates of Lil Wop’s Maserati.

He further claimed he was in Los Angeles at the time he posted it.

Some fans, however, posted that Octopizzo was just claiming what he dreams to own, looking up to fellow rappers who have made it in the game.

Are the fans making a fuss out of nothing?
