HUGE CLAIM: Thierry Henry speaks on Arsene Wenger's replacement

Former Arsenal player Thierry Henry has weighed in on Arsene Wenger’s announcement that he is going to step down as manager at the end of the season.

The French coach made the announcement on Friday, April 20 through the club's official social media pages.

“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season. I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. I managed the club with full commitment and integrity. I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special. I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support forever, ” said Wenger.

This will bring an end to an illustrious 22-year career which has seen him lift the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup a record seven times and the league cup twice. He will leave with one year still left on his contract.

Henry, however, thinks the club is not telling the fans everything and that a replacement should have been announced.

Speaking on Sky Sports moments after Wenger’s announcement, Henry wondered who would take the gaffer’s job. When I saw the news, obviously my thing was like ‘who is next?’,” Henry said on Sky Sports on Sunday. Normally when you do an announcement of someone leaving, it’s because you are going to soon announce who is coming,” said Henry.

He went on to speak about the replacement, saying he hopes the club had already found one. “But I’m waiting to see who it’s going to be and I would like to think and hope they have someone in line,” he added.

Wenger will want to see out his Arsenal career on a high and has urged the team to stay strong and focus on the remaining matches.

It is not yet known who is the favorite to replace him at Arsenal, though bookies have former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique and Carlo Ancelotti, the former Bayern Munich manager as favorites.
