Orengo reveals how NASA principals missed Raila swearing-in

Siaya Senator and the recently installed Senate Minority leader James Orengo has revealed why NASA leader Raila Odinga was sworn in alone in absence of fellow principals on January 30, 2017.

Speaking during an interview with CitizenTV's Hussein Mohammed on Tuesday, Orengo spoke about what led to Odinga taking oath in absence of his fellow principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

Orengo said that they knew the other principals would appear for the grand event only for them to bail out at the 11th hour.

“Even as we were going to Uhuru Park, we still thought they would attend the event since they gave an indication that they would come,” Orengo said.

He added that Odinga after realizing that they would not show up planned to address the crowd that they had sent their apologies.

“At the very last moment, when he realized they would not show up, Raila Odinga called them and said he would instead inform the audience that the three had sent their apologies, which he did," he added.

Orengo said all the leaders had agreed to meet up at the Serena Hotel after which they were to proceed to Uhuru Park for the event but this never happened as planned.

He also dismissed claims that Odinga had advised the other leaders to switch off their phones citing that they were all in communication until the last minute.

The principals have since given varying excuses with Kalonzo saying he had been put under house arrest and later saying that they had agreed to have Mr. Odinga sworn in their absence.
