Why Ruto remains the man to beat in 2022 Presidential contest

Ceteris paribus, the Deputy President William Kipchirchir Samoei Ruto will easily succeed Uhuru Kenyatta at Statehouse in 2022.

Known for his political bravery, Ruto seems to be the biggest beneficiary of the golden handshake of Mr. Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga that happened barely two weeks ago.

While other plausible players for the 2022 presidency, Raila's co-principals included, claimed of having being shortchanged by Raila after meeting the president without their know-how. Mr. Ruto embraced the meeting through a tweet on his official Twitter handle minutes after the duo— Uhuru and Raila— addressed the media outside Harambee House.

He has since toured several parts of the country including the coastal region speaking for reconciliation which politically translates to watering his presidential ambition.

Digressing, Mr. Ruto is a political power fighter, charismatic, articulate, ambitious, hardworking and a rumbustious man. He is also extremely restless and a teetotaller able to traverse every corner of the country till he executes his political agenda.
