Daniel Sturridge tells Liverpool he wants to quit – pushes for move

28-year-old England and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has reportedly told the club he wants to quit, following a rejected bid from Sevilla earlier in the week.

According to English outlet The Sun, Sturridge has grown unhappy at the club and is pushing for a move.

Sevilla is the latest entrant in the race to have their bid rejected by Liverpool as it did not have a ‘buy permanently at the end of the season’ clause.

Sturridge has, unfortunately, grew out of favour at the Kop, with the dynamic duo of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino leading the line in recent times.

The outlet also reports that Spanish giants Inter Milan also made a loan offer on January 23 and are willing to buy him permanently at the end of the season.

Sturridge however, wants to join Sevilla instead according to The Mirror.

It is understood that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will only allow Sturridge to leave if he gets a permanent replacement in the summer.

He has had an injury-plagued career at Liverpool, scoring only 63 goals in 133 appearances since his loan spell from Bolton Wanderers.

Klopp has however insisted that he has no plans of letting the embattled striker leave.

“It was not a talk with him saying ‘when can I go?’ or ‘where can I go? Not that talk, but about what we planned for this season,’ said Klopp when speaking about Sturridge.

This season, he has only scored 3 goals in five Premier League starts.
