But Conjestina was here before Zarika, lest we forget

Bigger Than Life Entertainment of Ejay Mathews from the United States and the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) got a reward for organising the World Boxing Council (WBC) super bantamweight.

It was during this event on Saturday, December 2 that Kenyan boxer Fatuma ‘Iron Fist’ Zarika beat Zambian Catherine Phiri to retain her title. Zarika had been training in Las Vegas, USA.

We are proud of her achievements. Every Kenyan should be.

Congratulations to Zarika for her great achievement, she has made Kenyans pride and lifted the Kenyan flag up high in the boxing game. Let us continue supporting the various sports activities so that we can have more Kenyans participating in world championships @AreroWario— Agnes Mutele (@AgnesMutele) December 4, 2017

Congratulations are in order for Fatuma Zarika after successfully defending her WBC Super bantamweight title against Zambian Catherine Phiri this past weekend. Wewe ni Shujaa!#Shujaa#TujiaminiKE pic.twitter.com/Ln03qymZ7z

We are very proud of this sporting family. Zarika is one of Kenya’s best athletes. She has longevity in her sport which is not an easy achievement. Really proud of her.

But one wonders just how long it will be before Kenyans forget Fatuma’s win and leave her to attend to her training by herself, only to emerge when she wins next.

Celebrated Conjestina “Hands of Stone” Achieng became the first Kenyan female boxer to take a shot at the WBC title for the middleweight title but lost on points to Yvonne Reis of the USA in 2006, lest we forget.

The once celebrated boxer now suffers negligence as her glory days are gone.
