Kenyans react: Orengo says NASA will declare Raila winner if Uhuru is sworn in

Siaya Senator James Orengo on Saturday 28 said that National Super Alliance (NASA) will use the August presidential poll to declare Raila Odinga winner if President Uhuru Kenyatta is sworn in.

“We will use August 8 results to swear NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga if Uhuru Kenyatta tries to use October 26 poll results to be sworn in,” said Mr Orengo.

Speaking in Machakos County, the Siaya Senator said that President Uhuru does not have sovereign authority but Kenyans.

“The executive authority of Republic of Kenya is with the people of Kenya, the Constitution says you have the sovereign authority. Uhuru does not have sovereign authority, you people have,” said the Siaya Senator.

Raila Odinga alipambana na Kenyatta wa kwanza mpaka akafa, Moi alienda nyumbani baada ya kufunga Raila, Kibaki joked with Raila and he went home, Uhuru Kenyatta will go home and Raila Odinga will come to be the President of Kenya,” he continued.

During an interview with CNN Raila Odinga said that they will not use violent confrontations with the government if President Uhuru is declared winner but do a peaceful resistance and no demonstrations. He also said that they will announce the measures they are going to take to enhance pressure on the government on Monday 30 October.

Here are some Kenyans reactions on social media after Orengo said they will declare Raila winner if President Uhuru is sworn in;

They shouldn't have to wait for Uhuru swearing in if they are basing their argument on the 8/8 vote. Go right ahead!
