SACKING OF COUNTY OFFICERS RIDICULOUS

Governors voted in the just concluded 2017 General Election have stamped their imminent arrival and authority by suspending a lot of County Officers.

Tharaka- Nithi County Governor Muthomi Njuki is the real 'hero' suspending 1061 County Workers to "clean up the County Payroll" with his counterpart in Machakos Dr Alfred Mutua sending home 437 Finance Department Officers.

Former Meru Senator, Kiraitu Murungi, has outrightly refused to be left out of this sacking spree, suspending more than 100 County Employees to pave way for a financial audit.

Some Governors have been heard loudly threatening the county officers who did not vote for them. Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago warned those who did not vote him to repent.

Judging by what has happened in Tharaka- Nithi, they might actually need some fasting atop Mount Elgon to keep their jobs.

However, that is not the end of it all, the climax of all this madness is the beating and forceful eviction of county officials purported to have campaigned against Governor Cornel Rasanga in Siaya County. Maybe more is to come, time will only tell.

Public Service Commission Chairperson Professor Margaret Kobia has criticized all this melee citing that it would attract legal suits that are very expensive.

Importantly, she added that they would not waste tax payer's money battling legal suits due to irregular sackings.

In a nutshell, It is quite clear that these Governors are on a revenge mission under the disguise of Streamlining the Counties.

It is only a matter of time and they will replace the officials with their own puppets. Just like their predecessors they will then embark on a looting spree of the little coins left in the County Coffers.

At this rate I can't just wait for 2022 to restart all this crazy cycle. Ooh wait! COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli warned the sacking Governors to meet him in court in a few weeks. Believe me that man means trouble.

Professor Kobia could be right after all, but we can only be onlookers and spectate on what happens to the taxpayers money.
