Nyamira residents scramble for bread and soda as governors draw clear distinctive line

More elected governors are taking the oath of office in memorable events with a number seeking to slash millions allocated for their inauguration ceremonies saying the money could serve other electorate needs.

In Nyamira County, John Nyangarama retained his seat on an ODM party ticket surviving pressure from Jubilee's Walter Nyambati who came inches close to unseating him.

When his turn to be sworn in came on August 18, at Nyamira primary school, he thought it nice to treat his supporters with soft drinks and loaves of bread but whoever mandated to distribute the snacks were overwhelmed by the number of supporters prompting them to start throwing them in the air for the strongest to survive.

Children, youth and the old scrambled for slices of bread as some turned the whole feast of bread into an affair of giving a bite of bread for a sip of soda as some had their bread dried up their saliva and were in dire need of a drink.

Those who could not manage the struggle stood at vantage points at the venue to capture the moments with their phones.

The leaders, on the contrary, had a superb cake to comfortably share as the county marked the historic event.

In attendance was Kisii County Governor James Ongwae.

Governor James Ongwae, John Nyagarama and first lady Naomi Nyagarama shared the cake with profound ease.
