MAKE OR BREAK: Here are Raila Odinga’s prayers to the Supreme Court

NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga, accompanied by Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka, along with other officials filed a petition at the Supreme Court, seeking to challenge the outcome of the presidential election.

With a dossier that has over 25,000 pages, the NASA brigade seek to nullify this year’s presidential election, after claiming the IEBC had been hacked and figures manipulated to favour incumbent President Kenyatta.

In 2013, Raila’s efforts were to no avail, as the Supreme Court failed to find any reason to nullify results.

Political pundits who have expressed zero confidence in the judicial system are of the opinion that Raila might face the same situation this year as he did 5 years ago.

However, the NASA team is confident that the Supreme Court will do them justice and that the evidence they have provided adds up.

Raila will be praying that the Supreme Court:

- Nullifies the presidential election results over irregularities

NASA contends that the Presidential election was riddled with anomalies and that the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto and President and Deputy cannot stand. NASA filed the petition in the Supreme Court after 10:30 pm, having kept the media waiting for most of the day.

- Punishes the IEBC officials involved in the consipracy

He wants the Chief Justice David Maraga-led bench to find IEBC officials criminally liable for compromising the presidential election. He relies on Article 75 of the Constitution for action; says some IEBC official worked on behalf of President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party.

- Body of evidence totals 25,000 pages

NASA petition comprises 25,000 pages of evidence detailing why the presidential results should be thrown out. It will be argued by a battery of over 25 lawyers, who will rely on form 34As and 34Bs – with over a million votes – that NASA claims have discrepancies that could deny Uhuru 50% + 1 threshold.

After filing the petition at Supreme Court, Raila said, “We have left the matter with the Supreme Court. The rest will be handled by our very able lawyers…As I said, the ruling on this petition is a historic one and it will determine the future of this country. “
