Security detail pushes away a man who tried to force his way to hug Nasa principal Moses Mudavadithe NASA rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, Kenya on August 05, 2017.
Voting began at 6am across the country but in some areas voters had reported to polling stations as early as 4am on Tuesday.
The process was seamless in most parts save for a few counties where voting started late due to hitches ranging from poor weather conditions that caused flooding like in Turkana to polling stations having the wrong batch of ballot papers.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati had said polling centres where voting started late would remain open for a duration equivalent to the delay.
Voting ended by 5pm on Tuesday in most polling stations and vote tallying started immediately.
