IEBC - Election campaigns to end 48 hours to start of voting

  • Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission CEO Ezra Chiloba stated that the chances of rigging elections this year are minimal, with the commission having acquired a new system 3 months ago.
  • Preparations for the August 8th elections are also being finalised, IEBC having simulated to Kenyans how their the KIEMS kit will work.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that all political campaigns will end on 5th August 2017, 48 hours to the General election.

The IEBC has also assured Kenyans of shorter queues in polling stations since the number of polling stations countrywide has been increased from 24,563 to 40,883.

The final batch of Presidential ballot papers arrived in the country on 1st August 2017 as election preparations entered the final stretch.

However, IEBC faces a dark moment, after the murder of its ICT Manager Chris Musando in unclear circumstances.
