Budalangi MP and Labour Party leader Ababu Namwamba has hinted that his party has resolve to support President Uhuru’s re-election is because according to him the president is an ideal choice of real progress over lies and propaganda of the opposition.
Speaking at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday during the party’s endorsement of President Uhuru he said that his party has never shied away from shaping the destiny of the country and that is why it has endorsed President Uhuru’s candidature for the August polls.
“We have seen what the President has done in the last four years and we are committed to supporting that progress. That is why we have taken a stand to challenge the narrative of isolation and falsehood propagated by the opposition,” said Ababu.
The former ODM secretary General further said that as a party they have chosen to be a solution to the challenges facing the country instead of being part of the problem like the opposition.
Additionally, he said that said it is wrong for leaders to be branded traitors when they differ with the Opposition saying that if you do not support a certain person you are a traitor is complete propaganda h that has to change. He also said that tribalism, hatred, and threats will not take this country anywhere.
On the other hand, the president was grateful for the endorsement he received from the Labour Party of Kenya for his re-election bid. He said that Jubilee and Labour have a common vision of ensuring justice and equity for all. President Uhuru promised to work together with the party towards achieving peace, unity, and progress in every part of the country.
The President also criticized the opposition for its continued criticism of the Government over measures that have been taken to lower the prices of maize flour, saying the opposition is only out to gain political mileage but do not have the interests of Kenyan at heart.
“They were blaming the Government for the rising cost of maize flour, but now that we have worked hard and brought down the prices they are saying money has been stolen. Was it really about the price of maize flour or opposition propaganda to gain political mileage?” President Uhuru posed.
