WHY RAILA IS NOT KENYA'S SOLUTION

NASA is like the Titanic. The sole purpose of this ship is to give passengers a futuristic experience. Will the experience be different for Kenyans come August? No, it will not.

This is the worst time in Kenya, for anyone to be a president with the aim of getting a good development record. If Raila was to become the president 2017, he will inherit every atrocity, scandals, debts, cartels, the rotten system, weak institutions and bought off cops.

There are photos doing rounds in social media. Indicating inflation rates of up to 11.48%, a national debt of up to 4 trillion and 200 billion shillings volatilized through corruption. These photos are meant to mock the Jubilee government and give people a reason to vote for NASA.

Like the father of realpolitik, Niccolo, always says. The people will always want a hero, a new prince. They easily forget the former was also once their hero. Where am I getting with this?

My question is? Will he make all these problems go away in five years? His Manifesto, is a bit of a cliché, nothing new on the table. Yet we have new problems. He does not talk of revoking the system or strengthening the institutions to make them more independent. He has not mentioned cartels or the low rate of employment. Maybe, he plans to also be a tourist president.

Another factor is, he wants to pull a Nelson Mandela in Kenya. After a being a winning loser for countless times you hardly ever resolve to be a philanthropist.

My two cents about this is, after the mediation talks of who will be the flag bearer of NASA, the agreement was, Raila will only serve for one term and Kalonzo the following term. If it were up to him, he would go for two terms because five years are barely enough to recover the deficit of Kenya's national budget.

So to all with high hopes that once he becomes the president, the dollar will move from Sh103 to Sh50, or that sugar will suddenly drop from Sh350 and go back to Sh190, I’m sorry to disappoint.

He mentioned that he is going to reduce rent, Kenya is a free market, and you can't impose prices on sellers. Unless he has an ideology he plans to implement once he is elected. Kenyans we are smarter than this. Vote for him because you want a new face but if it’s change you want? He will not give it to you.
