Champions League: Real Madrid roars in Munich as Juventus tame Barca

This mid-week saw quarter final first leg action underway the Europe’s most prestigious competition-Champions League.

On Tuesday night Barcelona travelled to San Siro to take on Italian’s finest-Juventus. This was a replica of 2015 final where the Catalans carried the day after a 3-1 win.

Many argued it was the best stage for revenge.

Luis Enrique’s men suffered a 3-0 loss with the 23-year old Argentine, Paulo Dybala netting a brace in the first 45 minutes. Giorgio Chiellini struck early in the second half leaving the visitors with an uphill task when they face-off in the return tie next week.

Yesterday, Real Madrid made a trip to Allianz Arena to rejoin their former manager-Carlo Ancelotti. Madrid have Christiano Ronaldo to thank after finding the back of the net twice.

Bayern Munichen’s Arturo Vidal had put the hosts ahead in the 25th minute with a header, but Zinadene Zidane proved to be better than the teacher after re-thinking his squad’s style of play during the break.

Terms would have been equal but Vidal penalty went above the bar just before the break.

Leicester City, the EPL champions and the only English club in the competition lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid at Vincente de Calderon. Frenchman Antoine Griezeman’s spot kick was the only goal separating the two sides.

In another match, Borussia Dortmund lost 2-3 at home in the hands of Monaco.

All the return legs will be played next week, to determine who qualifies for the semis.

All the results.

Juventus 3 Barcelona 0

Borussia 2 Monaco 3

Bayern Munich 1 Real Madrid 2

Atletico Madrid 1 Leicester 0
