Sonko reports his own cousin to the relevant authority for allegedly stealing over 1.4 billion

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has taken the fight against corruption to another level by ensuring that his cousin is suspended and charged over corruption allegations.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Sonko said that his cousin Jimmy Kiamba got suspended and charged for stealing over 1.4 billion from City Hall after he reported him to the relevant authorities.

Sonko said that should he be elected Governor, he will sanitise Nairobi and ensure that public money is not stolen.

He further said that it will not matter who the person caught stealing from public coffers is but he will deal with each and everybody equally to protect the public money.

“Nairobians asking me how I will deal with corruption as Governor. If I can send my own cousin to jail for stealing your money, whom can't I report ?” Sonko asked.

According to Sonko, Kiamba begged him to leave the matter pending so that they can meet and talk over the same but he declined and swore to have him investigated until the money is recovered.

Sonko said that it was very unfortunate for Kiamba to collude with other county officials to loot public money and use it on private development leaving the common mwananchi suffering.

In addition, the senator said that he will do everything within his means to see to it that the cousin returns the money he allegedly stole.

Meanwhile, Sonko said that it should serve as a red light to those people who are looting and engaging in corrupt deals.

“Anyone who is brave enough to loot money that I have allocated for youth will have a very long story to tell, won't allow it to happen,” added Sonko.
