Kenya 1-1 Uganda: Cranes rally from behind to force a draw in Machakos

Moses Waiswa beautiful volley in the 87th minute saw the match between the two sides settle for a 1-1 draw for the 36th time in their total 108 meetings.

Guizhou Zhicheng FC striker, Michael Olunga broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, beating two Uganda defenders, then smashing into the left bottom corner past keeper Benjamin Ochan; putting the Stars in command.

Stanley Okumbi’s men who are now unbeaten in eight competitive matches will have themselves to blame for failing to convert most of their chances. They were the better side by far in terms of their defense and the attack front.

Substitute Waiswa ruined the celebrations at Kenyatta Stadium, three minutes to stoppage time. After what Okumbi termed as ‘lack of concentration’, the Ugandan winger, curled in a fantastic strike in a difficult angle after beating Aboud Omar at the back.

Stars, who were without captain Victor Wanyama and full back David Owino will host DR Congo in their next friendly match on Sunday 26 March at the same venue.
