How I narrowly missed being thrown into Lake Victoria by AP officers who said I was fighting the Government using a pen

Police office seems to believe that they are above the law.To them they believe they are the government and everybody should submit to them.

In a recent harrowing tale, seven Administration Police officers are in the spotlight for allegedly torturing a Standard Media journalist while on duty.

The Bondo based Standard Media journalist was arrested as he tried to cover a story that was involving human rights activists.

“ I was arrested at Usenge township,Siaya County as I interviewed human rights activists about an impending protest by local traders against harassment by the Quick Respond officers,” he said.

Isaiah Gwengi said that after torturing him the police officers took him to Got Agulu Sub-county Hospital where the clinical officers were instructed to administer first aid and he be returned to the police cell where he was being detained.

Gwengi said that on their way back to the cell the one police officers suggested that they throw him into the Lake Victoria where he will not come back and write nasty things about the ‘government’.

He further said that there was a serious debate about the issue where one of them suggested that they just take him back to the police cell for further grilling.

According to him, the junior officers were sent by their boss because while in the cell he heard them tell him that they had finished the job and the suspect will not spoil their name anymore.

Meanwhile, the media fraternity has demanded the arrest of the AP officers involved.
