FA Cup: Arsenal, City and Spurs cruise into cup semis

All top clubs in the England top-tier sailed through to FA Cup semifinals.

On Saturday, Manchester City traveled to Riverside Stadium to square it out with Middleborough, a team which has eliminated the Citizens four out of their last five FA Cup meetings.

Goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero in each half saw Middleborough crawl out of the competition staged at Riverside Stadium.

The visitors, though wasteful in front of the goal in the entire fixture, qualified for the semis for the first time since 2012/13 season.

Later troubled Arsenal welcomed non-league team, Lincoln City, who are 100 places below Arsenal at Emirates stadium. The Imps are the first non-league side to feature in the last eight of the FA Cup since Queen Park Rangers 104 years ago.

Gunners, who won this trophy twice in the last four years, thrashed Lincoln City 5-0, prompting the merciful center referee to kill the game a minute before time.

Goals came in from Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Luke Waterfall own goal in the 58th minute.

On Sunday, saw Tottenham Hotspur welcome League One side Millwall at White Hart Lane. It was Spurs first appearance in the competition in this round since 2011/12 season, where they were eliminated by Chelsea in the semi-final.

Spurs star striker and former Millwall loanee, Harry Kane succumbed to injury just six minutes into the game and was replaced by Christian Eriksen.

Millwall, who have knocked out three top-league so far this season, last reached this stage four years ago.

Unluckily, the visitors suffered a 6-0 humbling with Son Heung-min netting a hat trick. It was the first ever hat trick for the 24-year old South Korean international since joining Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Dele Alli, Vincent Janssen, and Christian Eriksen also got their names on the scoreboard.

Tonight, Jose Mourinho makes a return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea entertain Manchester United in the last quarterfinal fixture.
