DOCTORS STRIKE STILL ON, KMPDU INSISTS.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials have dismissed claims that the doctors strike has ended saying it is propaganda.

KMPDU national chairman Samuel Oroko on Saturday night urged members of the union and the public to ignore such information since only the union officials can call off the strike.

The chairman through his twitter handle said any other contradiction is propaganda.

" The doctors' strike is on, and can only be called off by KMPDU officials! Ignore any other propaganda," said Oroko.

Health journalists contacting KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Oluga confirmed that the general denied various night reports in the media that the strike had been called off.

Both the national and county governments have warned on the possible sacking of doctors failing to report to their stations and hiring of foreign doctors.

Kakamega Governor Wyclef Oparanya on Thursday expressed fears that foreign doctors might demand more than the Government can offer.

In Kisumu County, the health CS Elizabeth Ogaja cited not having received formal directives to sack defiant doctors insisting she would do so when in possession of legal protection.
