Dear Nick Mwendwa, end FKF-KPL impasse now

It is almost a year since you took reigns of leadership at FKF House replacing Sam Nyamweya. Kenyans felt time was ripe to make our game great again. They had full confidence and support in you.

Majority of football lovers are pleased at what you have achieved in a span of 12 months, while others feel the pace is incredibly slow.

Following the recent standoff between Football Kenya Federation and Kenya Premier League, you should come out very clearly and let the federation’s authority be felt. No sideshows.

Unless addressed, soon enough it will metamorphose to a huge mountain. For starters, here is what is at stake if we let this escalate:

Kenya stands to be banned by the world football organizing body FIFA. As if that is not enough, CHAN 2018- to be hosted in Nairobi is 10 months away, are we ready yet? What picture are we trying to send to CAF, and FIFA with this non-issue of clubs’ promotion and demotions.

The law is clear, if a given club does not meet CAF’s regulations threshold then, it has no business participating in the said league. Period. So, court battles now and then are uncalled for.

Now that, CHAN 2018 is fast-approaching, in fact, ten months away to be precise- issues we are supposed to be tackling should be: are our stadiums ready to host the tournament? Not battles and empty rhetoric.

All stakeholders- players and fans are a frustrated lot due to this stalemate between the two bodies. The league ought to have started already with the first bunch of matches getting played last weekend.

We believe Football Kenya Federation is far from becoming a toothless body, Kenyans believe a good stand will be taken to avert the current sickening turn of events tormenting our football scene.

Dear Mwendwa let Kenyans enjoy a clean game once more. The Power is in your hands.
