Catch handbag and phone snatchers at the Railways roundabout

Snatching of mobile phones and handbags has become the order of the day at the Railways roundabout. Criminals take advantage of traffic to snatch items from passengers.

Most of the affected passengers are those seated near the windows. The criminals, most of them street boys, while away time at the roundabout then emerge when there is traffic.

A Riara University student was recently left in tears after her handbag was snatched through the window of a matatu she was travelling in.

Matatu crews are now regularly warning their passengers not to use their mobile phones at the roundabout and to always close windows. Pedestrians have also been violently robbed in broad daylight along Haile Selassie Avenue. May be the Government should deploy police officers at the roundabout to end this madness.
