Whereas other counties make public the shortlisted candidates for the Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) recently advertised teaching vacancies, Nyamira County shortlist list is private and confidential.
Word is that the Nyamira TSC office is dishing out the vacancies to the highest bidder. The guidelines spelt out by the TSC Head office according to them are null and void. People who completed a P1 course in 2010 and didn't even serve as a relief teachers last year are getting hired yet 2007, 2008 & 2009 graduates are still out there. The 'successful' applicants are to fill the employment forms today at the TSC office in Nyamira County. Which public office except banks and hospitals operate on a weekend?
