State fight against FGM too strict

I support the measures the Government has put in place towards fighting FGM. But some of them are too harsh.

Recently, three women in Narok County were arrested for being circumcised and jailed for three years. I think this wasn't wise because no amount of punishment can undo an act that had already been done.

The Government should focus on ways in which more women can be rescued from the practice, rather than inflicting pain on those who underwent the cut two years ago.

As Kenyans, we will not be blinded by Government's needless efforts. They need to act wisely if indeed they intend to crack the whip.
