Man in trouble for hiding under woman’s bed

A man found hiding under a woman’s bed has been sentenced to three months community service by a Gucha court. Dennis Okemwa John committed the offence on February 21, at Bogeta village, Kenyenya District.

He was charged with entering the house of Jane Mukalla with intent to commit a felony. On the said day, the Mukalla left her house with the door shut and went on a short journey. Later in the day, she returned and found Okemwa inside her house under the bed while armed with a rungu. Okemwa could not give a satisfactory account as to how he ended up inside the house. He was arrested and taken to Nyangusu Police Station.

He admitted the facts and in mitigation, he prayed for leniency. "I went to my aunt’s house and found chang’aa in the kitchen which I consumed and got drunk.I continued to stay until her son found me," he told the court. Ogembo Principal Magistrate Lily Nafula ordered that he serves his sentence at Magena DO’s office.
